Purpose
Currently I'm reading this bible devotion with my triplet called "God of Creation" and so far it's been a great series. The planner goes for 11 days, at the moment I'm on day 3, but behind 2 days... I just wanted to share it because these last couple days has been quite distressing and gloomy (not sure what words to say, I'll let you judge). I don't know if you've heard the news about a school in the north-west that has had two students contacted with covid. Well.. the school is actually the sister school of Redfield College (my school) and these last 24 hours has been unstop, the emails from concerning families, the staff not knowing what to do in regards of this situation- do we listen to the AIS (educational department for independant school) or the Health of NSW. Right now feels like a battle against the students education vs students health. We were advise to get tested, which I did this morning at St George Hospital. I was abit hesitate because friends told me about the procedure that they swab your nostrils and swab the inside of your mouth. What they didn't tell me was that they use same swab for for both nostrils and inside of your mouth... Straight in and around, whooshing into the nostrils, the suddenly....something triggered upon my soft nostrils and my eyes started to ball. I was crying...
Anyways the reason why I'm sharing this is because since covid, I haven't had any close friends or family contacted with the virus. I would only hear it in the news, hear thousands of daily cases everyday but none that really affected me. This week never felt so real, as I'm in the middle of an outbreak and ultimately there isn't much I can do. The only thing I can do is essentially wait... wait for the results, wait for the exec board to decide the best decision for the school and community, wait in uncertainty and fear.
And this is only the Monday. What a start to the week...
Having said that, I didn't want to rant about how my week has been so far, but I wanted to come back and share about the devotion. Reading through it with my triplet has made me realise how small we are, how insignificant we are compared to God, how little our problems maybe (even though there might seem big) comparing that next to God, puts you back into perspective. God's perspective. I want to share the devotion and help as you read it, you'll kinda understand and feel how I've been feeling.
Prayer: God, help me to understand your purpose in creation and find what you desire me to do in the midst of it.
Intelligence in Creation
Several years ago I watched the film "Planet Earth" produced by the BBC network. I had never seen the earth filmed in such clarity. The high definition cinematography helped a bit. The beauty of earth is remarkable, but as I have read more, the earth is placed in a perfect spot to survive.
Scientists refer to this perfect placement as "The Goldilocks Zone". Why this name? Goldilocks is a story of a girl who breaks into a bear family house, sits on chairs, eats their food, and sleeps in their beds. It's a great bedtime story for children; "Watch out kids for girls who break into your house at night". In the story, Goldilocks picks the chair that was the right size, food that was the best temperature and bed with the right amount of softness. Basically, she picked each item based on what was "just right".
When it comes to planets, it seems that Earth was "just right" for life to exist. Several scientific reasons have been posed: the distance from the sun, the stability of the sun, the moon tilting the earth just right, Jupiter pulling meteors away from striking Earth. These reasons paint part of the picture, However, Genesis chapter ones gives us a more to see. It was not by chance or luck that Earth ended up in the perfect place. An infinitely intelligent designer placed this planet where He wanted it to be for life to thrive. In Genesis chapter one we read a refrain: God looks at his creation and calls it good. God created the world "good" by it's placement.
1. Have you thought about Earth being in the perfect place for life to exist?
2. When you think about God creating the Earth and life in it, do you think He placed you purposefully?
3. If God placed you earth purposefully, what do you think he placed you here to do?
To end, one triplet wrote down " God's creation always amazes me. But his purpose is even more amazing and his purpose for us is amazing above all. He made us so we can glorify him in line with everything else that he has done".
The other wrote "To say God created things with purpose radically changed the view of this world. I think its quite a wake up to be challenged again that I wasn't really put in this world to randomly float through it according to my whims, but rather to seek God and to advocate for his will in the times when needed.
And myself "It's pretty eye opening to stop and think about Earth being where it is. If God had purposely created earth to be where it is. How much does God love us to give us a purpose in this world. Kinda mind blowing...."
